If you can't own a plane, rent one

Most of us don't have the kind of money that John Travolta has, so owning our own plane, and having enough land to fly it to our door, is out of the question. If you dream of owning your own plane but know that it is financially out of reach, there is always another route to go.

Hiring a small plane and pilot is not that costly. Sure, it's not cheap, but when you have a special occasion that you are saving up for, a few hundred more dollars isn't going to hurt. For that once in a lifetime occasion, why not consider hiring a plane for a short one way trip?

Many tourist areas offer short hops, often called something catchy like 'fly and dine'. They will fly you into a local area where you can have dinner and get a cab home. These packages coast around $100.

The next time you dream of owning your own plane, consider a rental instead.
